Description
This auction is for US sales only to US address. My sincerest apologies to our international friends as this specific species cannot be shipped Internationally due to CITES regulations and can only be shipped to customers in the United States.Up for bid is for one (1) vintage, old growth, genuine Brazilian Rosewood (dalbergia nigra), luthier, electric guitar fingerboard/fretboard billet! The auction winner will need to re-saw this properly and carefully for for book-match pair/net 2 individual fingerboard/fretboard. This fretboard billet is the harder to find orange heartwood the heartwood.
It is dense and stiff example. It is about quartered one end and rift sawn opposite end and has excellent annular growth rings- please see two close up photo’s of the end grain. This has a wonderful sweet aroma that sits between bubble gum, chocolate and roses. It is very resonant with excellent tap tone that is “metallic and glassy” in nature.
*Note that this piece is 3” wide but has some season checking at the side edge- the white pencil vertical outline is the visual clear workable width approximately 2-3/4”.
Please read the dimensions and descriptions carefully when evaluating this for your use to be able to get a book-match pair particularly the thickness prior to purchasing this item. This board has been rough surfaced on both face- will require minor jointer planing so it is dead flat before book-matching. flat on one face and rough sawn on the opposite face.
Dimensions are approximately as follows:
22.06” long, 3.00” wide and .760” thick.
Air dried/seasoned. Flat sawn/slab sawn cut. Heartwood 2 face. Rough surfaced planed both face- will require additional surfacing so it is dead flat before book-matching. Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal. Physical weight is approx. 1.56 pounds.
