Iwasaki Japanese carving files are well known in the woodworking and instrument building community for their ability to shape wood quickly, yet smoothly while leaving behind a clean surface on your stock. These files feature precision milled teeth and are available in several different sizes, shapes and tooth coarseness to cover almost every wood shaping need.

The extra fine sized tooth files feature chemically etched teeth. This process leaves each of the file's tooth with a consistent razor sharp cutting edge which sheers wood fibers rather than abrading them like traditional woodworking rasps, files and sandpaper.
Each individual tooth of these files also features its own chip breaker to help reduce clogging. Iwasaki files are designed for use on wood, but we've found they work equally well at shaping plastics, resins, MDF and other materials of comparable hardness.
Iwasaki files feature safe-edged (smooth with no teeth) sides to avoid damaging adjacent surfaces when working in tight spaces. The backs on the half round shaped files are also safe-edged.
The 8"/200mm extra fine tapered files do not include a handle but rather a metal tang.
